The stock holders of the Mooresvllle Cotton "Mills met in regular annual session and re-fleeted the old board of di rectors lor the ensuing year. The members are Messrs. J. B. Bherrill, M. V. Nesbitt, E. W. Bra w ley, S. A, Lowrauce, J., I Harris, j. r. ; uns and George C Goodman. . Upon adjournment of the Stock holders the director met and J. K. Sherrlll waa appointed president and & M: ;Goodmai secretarr and . treas urer. :C -; The year's business just closed has been a very satisfactory one, to the stockholders. They now t have , two mills In operation and have already begun building what will be known as mill No. I.t Which will treble- the capacity of the present two mills. The new building would have about been ready by now for th machin Vry, but on account -of the railroad - congestion it has not been possible The machinery for mill No. S has begun to arrive ana as soon as me building can be finished It will be in- '.stalled and put Into operation. It ,1s the purpose of the compsny to op erate mills No. 1 and No. 2 by elc 1 trio power. The completion of this mlU means -' much to Mooresvllla as It will give employment to a large number of I people and during this year the pop- . . This was a great day in h hietory of the Toung Men's Christian Association of Asheville. Tne campaign tnauguratiyl on January 1 to raise 120,000 by this evening at t 'o'clock, for the purpone of freeing tth assoclatlnon. from debt, and to ampply sufficient funds to equip the building In a modern manner, ended amidst 'great enthusiasm. The cam paign waa far more cuocessful than the moat sanguine dreamed of. In stead of raising $20,000, more than 173,000 wa raised. The varlotm com mlt&eies that have ben at work In the interest of the campaign rallied ' at the association room at 0 o'clock, when all subscriptions were turned in and dinner served. It was found nat the total amount secured was 428,917. Many handsome contributions came to-day. General Traffic Manager Hardwlck, Of tho Southern Railway, called Mayor Barnard over the long distance 'phone thla morning and gave a subscription of $600 In the name ;of the Southern Railway.
