Violence and Precipitation of Courxc of Liquidation During Day I'ncqtial ed In New York for Several Years Overwhelming Outpouring of Stock Come a General Surprise. New York. March 13-The atock mar ket waa shaken Into demoralization to day by a course of liquidation which for violence and precipitation had not been eualled in New York for several years paat. The overwhelming outpouring of atock came aa a general surprise a ex tensive progress was supposed to have been already effected In the necessary liquidation to meet the present situation. This supposition had been fostered by tha action of the market for several day past, but apparently the exigencies of tha money situation had been gross ly underestimated. Alarm for the ade quacy of available supplies to meet Im mediate or early requirement wa acute to-day, not only In New York but In lyondon, and in lers degrees. In Berlin The construction of credits fell unon an unsuspected extension of speculative no counts, and they were Indiscriminately forced to sale, apparently at any sacri fice. Banking credits were pructlcallv withdrawn from the stork market and borrower were called up in to pay their obligations. At the same time bids In the market for stork seemed to be with drawn and prlres were offered don points at a time before meeting any ab sorptive demand The Immediate pres sure on the money market, which pre cipitated this series of events, was at tributed especially o the late demand converging on the 15th of the present month.
