F. - ' ' The following Is in answer to your letter of the 23rd Instant: In your dining room yellow would undoubtedly be an effective color. With yellow paper on the walls, we would suggest that you use that coler at the window, the' treatment of which Is somewhat perplexing to you. There are several ways to jlrape such a win dow, but we would advocate a simple scheme. If the outlook Is at all Interesting, we would advise no curtains for the Immovable partitions and a simple hanging of sheer yellow silk for the swinging glass, held in place by rods at the top and bottom of the pane. If . the outlook Is not attractive, we would use a deep yellow valance over the top partition, and loose side curtains of yellow. The centra panel should then be treated with some transparent white material. The effect would be that of a white curtain, with over curtains of yellow. BIroh will take an excellent mahogany stain, but we are of the opinion that white will make .a better back ground for your mahogany furniture. One large rug Is needed in the dining room, equal to the floor space covered by the table and chairs. SHORT & SHORT 'Phone 970. The Expert Decorators). Charlotte, N. O.
