James C Stevenson, a leading wholesale grocer of Wilmington and a man of large af fairs of the community, passed awayj rather suddenly this morning after an illness of but a few days. He leaves, an aged mother, his. wife, two sons, James M.t of Wil mington, and Prof. ' Reston Steevn son, of New York, and two daughters, Misses Christine and Almeria' Steven sen, of " Wilmington. She had been in feeble health .for Several weeks, but her condition had been. Considered serious for; only two days, She , was believed ' to liave been the oldest per son in Rowan county and -one of the oldest In, North- Carolina. - Besides a daughter, she leaves a- large number of descendants and other relatives. Andrews, died at 4:30 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her parents , In West Market street. Scarlet fever was-; the cause of death. The funeral was held from the home this morning, the Rev. Dr. G. S. Detwller conducting .the service. The burial was at at Greene Hill Cemetery. MisS Andrews was a young woman of lovely disposition and her death cuases much sadness.
