Dancing was enjoy ed. Miss Long has returned to Washington, where she is a student of Gunston School of Voice. No. 133, a northbound freight train on the Seaboard Air Line, was wreck ed about 4 o'clock Saturday evening two miles west of Lilesville. Five box cars and a caboose were derailed. Twelve rails and 400 cross ties were ordered to repair the damage to the track. Passenger trains were delay ed two hours on account of the wreck. Claude Hymon have arrived here from Sumter, S, C, at which place he died. Mr. Hymon was several years ago engaged in business with Mr. D. WV Fuller here, . and married Miss Flora Fuller. He haa been lo cated at Sumter for several years and has been buying Cotton for Sprunt & Sons, of Wilmington. He leaves sur viving him hi3 widow and several Children, besides a host of friends. The funeral services will be held this afternoon. ' Mr. Ed Mayo, o( Scotland Neck. Special to The Observer. Scotland Neck, April 14. Mr. Ed Mayo died at the home of R, J. Madry Thursday night and his remains were taken to Cureton yesterday for Inter ment. He was 34 years old, leaves a wife and four children. He was a good man and had lived here only about a year. Shore, a Confederate vet eran, died at the Twin City Hospital this morning at 11:30 o'clock after an Illness of some time. He is survived- by-4wo daughters and two sons. Alexander Smith, died at her home on North Union Btreet at an early hour yesterday morning. She was 30 years of age and hai beeft an invalid for manv vears. for the past few ytars being unable 'to leave her room. The remains were interred at Oak wood Cemetery this afternoon at 4 o'clock. . . 1 , Mr. Joe Williams, aged about 40 years, died at his home at Forest Hill last night. He had been, confined to his bed for some time with .-. con sumption and the end came not unex pectedly. The remains were burled at Oakwood this afternoon. He leaves a wife and several children.
