The Trlnit boya never fall to please, here. Despite the tightness of the money market and the day f scrip, the fac toriea here are all running some of them on the elghhour--day plan and a good many of them ten full Jjours a day. None of them have closed down and there is no occasion for such, notwithstanding it has been reported on the outside that several of them had temporarily shut down. This should be a source of congratu lation considering how hard some of the towns are put to It to get along, even with an abundance of scrip. There never lias been any of it used here and the banks wilt not use it. NEWS FROM MORGANTOX. j Burke Court on For Trial of Civil Causes Dr. J. L. The following, arranged in the form of letters, were printed originally in the columns of the Textile Manufac turers' Journal, October 13, 1907. They , came from the pen of Joseph 1. Holmes, of the woolen commission firm of Holmes & Long, and were ex tensively commented upon at; the time. , Our only excuse for reprinting them is that in their application to the present conditions, showing the ab surdity of cancellations, carried into other lines of business, they have received : miblicity, and in. Justice to the author it is. believed: their true origin should be noted. The letter, and comments thereon follow; i "As some of our largest . clothing and cloak manufacturers are, already in Wall Street, and more are going, we are- in- receipt- of .it few. sample letters which, rumor has it. have sur prised some of the older operators there. C. and When the Debris ts Cleared Away, the Dead Bodies of a Trio of Hoboes Are Found. Special to The Observer. Spartanburg, 8. O., Dec. 4. Three white men were killed in a freight wreck on the Spartanburg division of the Southern at Blalrs early this morning. The bodies of the dead men were mangled beyond recog nition. From letters and papers found In the clothes, one of the dead Is without doubt that of Eugene Queen, of Union, who formerly worked in the, union Cotton Mills. He was about 22 years of age and married. He left his home Monday or Tuesday, hik companions are thought to be his brother, Jim Queen, and Will Gray, of Union. The men were evidently beating their way to Columbia when they met death. In the accident the track was torn un for a considerable distance, and wrecked cars were piled tip along the track. It was not known that any lives had been lost until the work of removing the debris was begun, when the dead and mangled bodies of the three men were found under the wrecked ears. . The train was crossing a trestle over a creek near the station when six cars crashed to the bottom, tear- In down the trestle.
