" Friday afternoon of last week the sjrlrls gave a leap-year dance at the .park. Everything was done by the srtrls. They made the engagements, 5ald the fiddlers, the car fares there and back, and served Ice tea and sandwiches during the evening, the dance lasting from 8:30 to 11. it was decidedly the most enjoyable dance of the season, though the one srivenby the young men the night before was splendid. It did the girls rood to ee the young men standing anxiously around watting for some body to ask him for the next dance, lie could not ask the girl; if he dIJ, the penalty was. she would refuse. The girl led the figures, blew the whistle, and the stags didn't fall to rek in when they desired. The grfrls Just made a success ot their . dance and no doubt. the boys wish for leap year every other year. . Mrs. Oil flmoot, at the home of lier mother. Mrs. Brooks, on DUIiard street, entertained at bridge and euchre from 4:10 till :30 Saturday afternoon ' of- last week. Miss Joe Taylor made the highest score at fcridge and won the prize, a beauti ful fan. Miss Llda Vaughan captur , ed the euchre prise, a pair of rh!te 'ellk hose.- It was a delightful party. Those not caring to play bridge had the privilege of playing euchre, the elite of the town being present The Bridge-Club-Tuesday morning gave a party to Mrs. P. C. Graham at Lake wood Tark from 10:10 to 1. Five tables played. ; 6he annually entertains the member making the largest score throughout the season, and Mrs. Graham bore the honor this year. The playera Tuesday arranged the tables In the pavilion and two and a half hobra were enjoyed 1n lively games.
