It - was one of the best presented amateur attractions Ral eigh has enloyed in a long while, and a goodly sum was netted for the Old Ladies Home. Gray, Watt-Martin and A,'H Galloway.:..;'; ;.'.': vv-- The Raleigh Philharmonic ' Orchestra, which. 1n connection with the Raleigh Choral Society, gave the most brilliant muslo festival in the history of Raleigh, was reorganised for the coming season Wednesday night with- Prof. Gustaf Hage dorn as director, and rehearsals will be ' held regularly at the Baptist University. The work of the' Raleigh Choral Society will also be Tesumed very soon under the ' direction of Prof. Wade R. Brown, muslo director of the Baptist University. This " organisation comprises more than one hundred of the most talented vocalist In the city. There was a pretty home wedding Tues day -at-the home of the bride's parents when Miss Etfle Lillian Davis became the bride of Mr. R. El Williams, the cere monr betnc oerformed by Rev. L. B. Misses Ettle and Evelyn Aydlett, Margaret Taylor and Katharine Futrell. About sixty guests were fortunate enough to receive Invi tations to this, one of the most enjoy aMe affairs of the, summer. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Taylor. Dr. and Mra Kweaney and Dr.. Mebane chaperoned the party. Across the moonlit waters floated the cheery voices of those who made merry on this occasion, and "past regrets and future fears" were unknown. "The moonlight was a pleasing fever, the stars were ciphers. 1 the flowers were letters and . the air was coined Into sonar," and the boats "Just built for two, were much In de mand, as were, the swings and the see saws, and the mineral spring hard by was a popular resort. Mr. wnarton was at one time a member of the faculty of the city school and his wife was Miss Annie Ramsey,, daughter of the late uapt n. a. Ramsey. Flowers at their beautiful home at Trinity Park entertained at dinner last week in honor of Judge E. B. Jones, who was holding Durham court. The table was a most beautiful sight, to say nothing of the many elegant things that were served. The party was composed mostly of Trinity people and more especially of law students.
