It was pre dieted several weeks ago that Mr. Zeb Vance Walser, formerly Attorney ueneral of North Carolina, would be in the race tor Congress against Con gressman page. Sure enough thle week he was nominated by the Re publican convention which met at Jackson Springs. Mr. Walser , has not yet been formally notified of his nomination but there . Is no doubt about his accepting. No one has any Idea that Mr. Walser dreams of be ing elected but It la said that he would like to have the Job now held down by Mr. Holton In case ef the election of Taft and this will give blm an opportunity to do the sacrifi cial act District Attorney Holton haa been ia office for a long time and of course will have to step down and out at the . end or his present term, it matters not whether a Demo crat or Republican Is elected, unless, of course, the Republicans should make an exception. Special to The Observer. Jackson Springs, Sept. 18. The Re publican congressional convention wttilch met here Wednesday and unan imously nominated Hon. Zeb Vance Walser, of Lexington, aa Congress, man's opponent, was a large and en thusiastic convention. Mr. O. D. B. Reynolds, of Troy, was nominated presidential elector. There was groat enthusiasm among the delegates and It Is generally understood that Mr. Walser will make a thorough and vigorous canvass of the entire dis trict.
