Sheriff Hunter left yesterday for Raleigh, taking with him Joseph Lance, of Ardcn, tbe young traveling salesman under nine ears' manslaughter sentence for the killing- at Buena Vista a year ago of little Alma Green. Lance desired to go to the State prison alone, hut on advice of counsel decided to rins; In no Innovation, and Friday surrender ad himself to the authorities, waiving the 'formal Issuance of a capias. He was placed In Jail to await removal to the State prison. Lance asked Sheriff Hunter to take him to Raleigh Immediately to begin sentence; but the sheriff, desiring to go In person, could not ftrld It convenient to- go Saturday.
