Kondthaler. on of Bishop Edward Rondthuler, will auceeed Dr. Clewell, coming from a professorship In the Moravian Theo. logical 8emlnary at Bethlehem, where he has been for ten years. He was graduated with high honors from tbe University of North Carolina, after which he completed his seminary course at Bethlehem and entered the ministry' of the Moravisn Church. He apent several years as pastor of Christ church here, traveled abroad add then took up his work at the seminary as professor. Mr. Rondthaler is a broad, cultured man with a winning personality, and will be welcomed back to his old home. His wife Is a Philndelphlan. their marriage taking place twelve years ago. She Is actively interested In educational work and will be a great aid to her hushnnd In managing the affairs of the academy. Dr. Clewell has achieved notable Success is his administration, the col lege having prospered greatly under his regime. The authorities were loath to part with him. as well as with Mrs. Clewell, but both of them feci that their duty compels them to take up the work at Bethlehem. GASTONIA NEWS NOTES. TrootmaJi High Srhool Closes Success ful Term. Special to The Observer Troutfnan, May 5. The high cbool- closed a-three days' programme bare last night with a full attendance throughout. The baccalaureate ser mon was preacher Sunday by Rev. Dr. C. B. King, of Charlotte. It Is need leas to aay just how well the villagers here enjoyed his discourse. He seem ad to have prepared his sermon word for word to fit his hearers. Whilo Ilia discourse was eloquent and deep It was also practical and easily rasped. Dr. W. W. Bays, of Charlotte, de livered a good literary address and tha exercises closed last night with a play which netted 60 for the li brary fund. A successful school year haa just closed. Four years ago Is a little school house we had a four- Months' school. But the people voted a tax on themselves and erected com modious buildings. We now have a good elght-mooths' school, about 150 atudents and a sufficient number of teachers to Instruct. Next year more, buildings, will be erected and other Improvements made.
