After a number of pro gressive games. It waa found that Miss Minnie Sherrtll had won the prise, a pretty hand-made handkerchief. The gift to the bride-elect was a pretty picture In a white and gold frame. White and gold' daisies were massed and scattered everywhere. The refreshments were and whit ancL-gold cream and cake. The score cards were white wed ding bells bordered with geld. In the hall where the punch bowl waa placed, numerous happy toasts ere given and drunk with a will. Mesdames William Morrison, Eugene Morrison. W. A. Thomas, and Misses Lillian and HallU Morrison assisted the hostess. The evening was .enjoy ed by all. Mrs. Clarence Stlmpaon tendered a delightful party to Miss Morrison on Monday afternoon. It was a miscel laneous shower of many useful arti cles. In an Interesting guessing gam of filling blanks In a story of the 'court ship of the flowers, the prise waa won by Miss Mary E. Miller. This was a lovely fan. Th bride-to-be waa giv en a handsome silver belt buckle. In draewlng fortunes from a large heart, the bride's fortune led her to open a certain door, when there stood re vealed a tree hung with rloh' gifts, each one bearing- a toast of good wishes. Elegant refreshments in two courses were served. Mias Sara Cowles entertained on Tuesday evening in honor of Miss Morrison. Her decorations were elab orate and lovely. The hall waa de corated with iwhite carnations, red rosea and poppies. The white and gol.l parlor held white lilies and yellow carnations. The sitting room was tastefully decorated iwlth pink and white carnation. On the broad veranda, lighted by Japanese lanterns, was platred the punch bowl. Above the punch bowl suspended a Jrtpanese parasol from each rib of which fell long streamers of Crlmaon rambler roses, all together forming a most attractive corner. A lively game of heart-dice was played. Miss Nell Anderson won the prize, a pretty picture. The bride elect received a lovely out-glas vaso filled with sweet peas. The dining room In ita decoration's of pink and white was very attractive. A large wedding bell, of the white star Jessamine WJth the clapper made of Bride's roses, was hang over the table's centre. Upon the centre of the table was a large mirror surrounded by a wreath of Jessamine end' lighted by pink candles. A vase upon the mirror bore carnations and ferns. Surrounding the mirror was a cir cle of pretty cups and saucers which were presented to the bride, each with an accompanying heart tag containing a suitable toaat. Dainty refreshments were served. The souvenirs for the ladies were little flower bankets filled with rice, .while those of the gentle men were tiny suit cases filled with eonfettl, snd tagged with small hearts. The bride and groom-to-be were given boxes of candy. The evening closed wdth a merry war of rice and con fetti. Miss Margaret Scott gave an enter tainment on Tuesday afternoon In honor her guest. Society Interests centred this week lu th final dance at Horner School, which closed the unusually attractive commencement exercises of this splendid school, mad conspicuous this year by the reunion of the alumni. The most attractive feature of the final was the presenta tion Of regalias, which filled young hearts with delight. Many pretty figures were led by Chief Marshal Mellon, assisted by Mr. Albert L. Cox. of RaleTsh. The Wednesday Afternoon Euchre Club was charmingly entertained by Mrs. Jeannette Gregory at her spac ious home on College street The guests were cordially greeted at the door by Mlsa Bennette Gregory. Unique score-cards In "Billy 'Pos sum" design were presented to each guest. In the game of euchre, both the club and star pins were won by Mlsa Jeannette Biggs, one of which the winner presented to Mrs. 8. H. Smith. The choke refreshmenU were greatly enjoyed. The "Gypsy Tea'' given on Mon day night by the young men was one of the happiest events of the early summer. The young people drove out early in 'the afternoon to Chat ham's pond and enjoyed fishing, boat ing and other amusements on the pond. A beautiful tea, consisting of choice viands was thoroughly en Joyed after which th party, seated around n large bonfire, enjoyed to the fullest extent some of the witty Jokes of Gen. B. S. -ttoyster. The drive back to town by moonlight was one of the most enjoyable events of the evening. A crowd of the younger set of Ox ford enjoyed a picnic at Cannady's mill on Monday. M.. on an extended wedding tour. Dr. Crlpliver is a native of Missouri who located here about two years ago in the practice of dentistry. During his residence here he has won many friends. Mr Crlplrver is the young itt daughter of Mr. and T. J. Grimes, and Is an exceedingly pretty and at tractive young lady.
