o'clock yesterday morning by

killing took place-on the piazza
at the home of Sherrill's mother.

the following brief particulars of
the tragedy, which were ob
tained by 'phone yesterday after
noon: Young Sherrill was charged
with seducing Miss Annie White,
a young woman who lies with
her mother in the Mr. Ulla neigh

Last Sunday the wife ol Mr
John Hefner was one of the peni
tents during the forenoon servi
ces of the revival meeting at
Smith's chapel in Muldlebrook
Hefner objected to this, and en
tered the chapel, and in the pres
ence of the large congregation,
dragged his wife out of the house
and used profane language. He
was arrested and taken before
Esquire Fleming and required to
give bond for his appearance be
fore him Wednesday afternoon
to answer the charge of disturb
ing religious worship.
A very interesting revival meet
ing at Smith's Chapel in Middle-
brook, conducted by Kev. T. J
Willis, of Greenville, S. C, came
to a close Sunday night. There
were 175 converts and at the
closing services 15 persons joined
the Baptist church and 23 the
Methodist. There were overflow
congregations at all the services
The preacher stood in the door
and addressed himself to both
those inside and those outside
the house. Mr. WTillis is a plain
man, and self educated. But his
preaching is effective, and he has
been verv successful as a revival
i?t. He preached in the court
house to a large congregation
Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock.
While in Lincolnton last week
