New enterprises continue to locate in prosperous Clevelaud. We are to have a new $200,000 cotton mill and power company. The Annual Re-Union of the Confederate Soldiers will be held in Shelby on Oct. 15th. "Ex Lieut. Gov. C. M. Steadman, of Greensboro, will be the speaker of the occasion. Robert C. Miller, one of Shel by's popular young men and the bright young son of our towns man Mr A. C. Miller, left Monday alternoon for Morganton to ac cept a position as ttacher in the D. & D. School. Mr. W.'A. Cabaniss sold his fine plantation Monday to Messrs. T. P. and F. W. Cabaniss for $1800.00. Mr. Cabaniss bought a tine plantation, ci.n tai-iing 235 acres, from Dr. T Evans McBtayer, for $4000.00 Rev. C. F. Sherrill closed a suc cessful revival at the chapel Sun- da v afternoon which had been in progress for about two weeks He was ably assisted by Rev. .1 W. Leak, of Rockingham. Seven were baptized, and net ween 40 to 50 conversions. The W. T. Calton Lumber Com panv, of Lattimore, has handled an immense amount of lumber hiiing the past few months. They operate only one saw mill, but are selling agents for fifteen or sixteen saw mills, and they shipped during the month of August 641,000 feet of lumber away over a half million feet in one month. Mr. Brady Dixon, son of Mr. Jackson Dixon, died at his home in Double Shoals Sunday, Sept. 13th, at 2 o'clock in t he morning and was buried late in the after noon at Elizabeth church, Rev. A. H. Sims conducting the funer al services. .Mr. Dixon died of consumption. He was a member of the Baptist church and a worthy young man, 25 years of CALDWELL Lenoir News, Sept. 25th.
