E. Hood spent Mon day in Morganton visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Patton and children, of Morganton, visited Mr. and Mrs. Will Hallyburton Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Branch spent last week as guests of Mrs. Branch's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kincaid. WORRY. Miss Esther Simpson, who spent some time with Miss Kate Ramsaur, returned Tuesday to her home in Chester, S. C. Mr. M. M. Bost spent Thursday at Construction. Misses Sue and Jessie Conley, of Adako, spent Saturday night as guests of Miss Kathleen Michaux, at Stony Hill. Misses Sadie and Lucv Tanner, of Plains, Ga., and Miss Susie Taylor, of Valle Crucis, are the house guests of Miss Cornelia McDowell, at Cher ry Fields. Mrs. Eugene Loven and children, of Connelly Springs, visited Mr. . and Mrs. M. S. Arney a few days the past week. Mr. T. D. Hedden, of Cashier, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Michaux and family. Mr. Forney Ramsaur, after spend ing several days at home, returned Wednesday to Albemarle where he has a position. Miss Mary Benfield and Messrs. Ralph, Kinnie and Bransom Benfield and Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Smith and children, of Gastonia, after spending several days with Mr. I. D. Whisen ant and family, returned home Sun day. They were accompanied by Mr. W. A. Benfield. Rev. J. B. Tabor filled his regular appointment at Arney's chapel Sun day morning. Mr. Fred Whisenant left Saturday for Gastonia where he will spend sev eral days with his aunt, Mlrs. W. T. Benfield and other relatives. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Lingafelt is very sick. Misses Essie Neill and Mertha Mangum spent Saturday and Sunday with the Misses Cowan. Mr. and Mrs. William Stone, of Morganton, are visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Morrison. Mr. G. E. Cowan, of Clifton, S. C, is visitnsr relatives here this week. Miss Mullie Morrison has returned to Trenton, N. J., after spending her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Morrison. Mr. and Mrs. George Bridges ,of Morganton, are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Bridges. Mrs. H. P. Cowan and daughter, Pearl, of Clifton, are visiting Mrs. B. L. Morrison. Mrs. A. M. Scott, of Glen Alpine, spent a few days the past week with her son, Mr. J. A. Scott. A music recial will be given at Pinnacle Saturday evening, July 17, by Mrs. Jas. Link and her music class. Everybody is very much pleased with the new rural mail carrier, Mr. Clyde Satterwhite. The protracted meeting will begin at Mt. Olive next Tuesday. CONNELLY SPRINGS. The Oxford orphanage singing class gave their annual concert at the Rutherford College auditorium Sat urday night, but on account of the downpour of rain the congregation was not as large as would have been. They remained over until Monday morning, and while here they sang selections at the Methodist church Sunday morning at the regular ser vices which were conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. B. Clegg. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Alexander went to Marion Saturday to see their daughter, Mrs. Ervin, who is sick. We hope she will soon be well again. Mr. H. C. Goode and family, who have been in South Carolina for some time, are visiting relatives at this place. We are having a tent meeting here being conducted by a company of mission workers. We feel that they will do good here. Prof. R. E. Loven and family spent a few days last week with his parents at Cold Springs. Mrs. Lou Goode. who has been in Wiriston-Salem with her daughter for some time, is spending awhile here. HIGH TEAK . Rev. J. F. Kirk, of the Sast Mor ganton Baptist church, delivered a fine sermon to a large crowd at Beth el church Sunday afternoon. He was accompanied by Mr. Alden Smith, of Morganton. Miss Pearl Cline has been sick for the past week but is recovering. Messrs. W. ti. King and family and Miss Clara Cline , and Miss Corrie Cline spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. Joe Grady, who has been quite sick xor tne past few weeks. Mrs. Will Mull and daughter, Ger trude, spent the week-end in Morgan ton with Mr. Monroe Mull. Mrs. Mumford C. Mull returned last week from a visit to her daughter in Morganton. Mr. and Mrs. John Fullbright are spending the summer with his father, Mr. James Fullbright. Mr. Schuyler Fullbright, of Gas tonia, is at home for a few days. Messrs. Frank Huffman and Mar shall Cline and families, of Drexel, spent Sunday with Mr. Robert Cline. Miss Pearl Mitchell returned Mon day to Winston-Salem after spending two weeks here with her father. Smith, superintendent of the Baptist Sunday, school, left Monday for Lincolnton to take a po sition. Miss Olga Smith, of Morganton, spent a few days last week at her home near Enola. Miss Texie Swink, of Valdese, spent Saturday" night at her home near Enola. Last Saturday we had a rain in and around Enola long to be remembered.
