It sufficient reason for one preventing omce of the Clerk of said Superior Court, on the day named herein, or the plalntltr will apply to the court Now, see what you've done! You Who have thought that because the doctor, was so anxious to help you in your hours of distress. Just any old time would do for his pay. "Any old time" is tomorrow and tomor row never comes. It seems, somehow, that there are people who' think it inhuman for doctor to demand pay for his ser vices. He is looked upon in much the same light as a preacher to be thankful for what he is lucky enough to receive. The newspaper of ttimes finds itself in the same company with the doctors and preachers. But the jig's up, say the doctors. "If you are able to pay and will not pay, you'll not get medical service without cash in advance. If you are a poor man and cannot pay, the doc tors will give you their service with out . charge." So, if you have been sick and the doctor made you well, go pay him before your delinquency makes him too sick to serve you next time. Imnroved Porto Rica and v. When Enough Is Not Enough It it not enough to limply know you have enouf h to eat. The cleanliness of your food, it food value in nourish ment, and its pure goodness these are the points to consider when you juy things for your family to eat. Insist on pure food, and you will get good food. WE KNOW WHAT WE SELL IS GOOD You may be of the opinion that certain articles you want for your table are not kept in lillington hut let u hare your order, and you'll find that no city atore has "any thing on us. Let's hare your orders. JoK nson & Bry an GOOD ENOUGH ADVERTISING. It would not be impossible for the .police to search every known crimi nal or suspicious character whenever they are met. and jail those upon whom concealed weapons are found. A reputable citizen found with, a gun upon nis person is promptly 'pinched," hauled into court and fined. The criminal element loads itself with "artillery" and walks the streets with impunity, ready to shoot at the first opportunity. City authorities who permit these conditions to prevail are dangerous ly . near to being in the same class with the gunmen who commit the crimes, for the man who aids or abets is second only to the principal. Cold facts may be unpleasant things to read, but they are Dene- ficial where people have the courage to act upon tnem. What does it matter to them it the .result of many afternoons' work in the garden or in the front yard are lost to the man or woman next door? Their chickens get fat off the seed. That's good enough advertising, Mr. Bowers; but the question is use less. Lack, of common sense is the answer. ' There are oodles of other wise sensible people who had rather pay a stranger double price for an . artiele of unknown worth than buy at home goods of proven quality. But you know what Barnum said. Well, this is a fast age, and b'jove, it does seem as though "fools is twins.' FERTILIZE! Those who are qualified to give advice upon farming are of the opin ion that this is the year for farmers to be generous in the use of guano To our mind this seems excellent counsel. - A slow crop this year in vites the odds to take the advantage As a rule, farmers do not use enough fertilizer. Of course in some seasons they use too much, as for in stance when cotton went to 40 cents, enthusiasm ran too high and the guano soared. But the fact remains (that crops on even the richest soil 'mature too slowly for the most de jsired results when the proper amount of guano is not' there. 1922 is a year when quick results are most to be desired. Use the guano your land needs; you cannot afford to be too stingy with the soil Millions of people pass by a school or a church daily without giving either a second thought. Yet both are a vital necessit7 in the lives of the men and women of this world. The school prepares the child for its place in the social and business world. Without the knowledge thus obtained a man or woman would be totally unfitted for the conflicts of Jlfe, handicapped from the. cradle to the grave. The church prepares the mind and ... . a. the heart for that greater me o which our earthly career is only a prelude. It opens the door to those mysterious steps which lead upward to the realm of eternal glory, the final resting place of the soul that repents of its earthly transgressions. Without a second thought! When people insist upon saying unkind things of others it would be well for them to contract the habit of talking to themselves, men iney could let off steam in large quanti ties without doing any material harm to anyone. We are never quite accurate in our Judgment of others, because we are not fully acquainted with the reasons which actuate them. Under such conditions the person who is slow to pass Judgment is raostj to be commended. He may at times ,be prone to condone faults, but even that Is prereraDie 10 passing censure where- there is a possibility that it .may not be deserved. . . . i . . . i A close mourn is iar ueiier iujiu an open one.
