The other partner of, the 'firm v of
. Alford, ; Bynum & Christophers,
namely Charles D, ' Christophers,
was present and witnessed - the
shooting.. 'The front door of the
establishment is closed and the
terrible affair occurred in the print
ing room, which is separated from

door and along Bast Hargett street.
His dishevelled' appearance led one
or two persons who passed ' him
within a few yards of the place 6f
the shooting to ask him what was
the matter. He replied in a drunk
en voice that he did not know, or
something to that effect and went
on to the corner, turning down
South Blount street a few blocks
from the capitol building. The
first man who got inside of the
place was led to enter by the ap
pearance of Christophers, who ltd
Ms shirt sleeves and his " shoulder
covered with blood ran out the
front door. The man who entered
aided Christophers and some others
who came in, in removing Alford
to the office.' ' Then a doctor 'was
telephoned. Bynum' is still at

sion of the special term a regular
term of one week will be held fol

two men who were convicted of thfc
murder of H. G Story here twenty
one days ago, .were hanged hi the
