Id Memory ol Mrs. J. Y. t Copeland. 8 ? ' ?r Again we liear tbe echoes of dentli sounding in our midst. ,S Some oue usk who i? dead I and we ^ hear the answer from some friend come like this; MrV James Cope '' land one of the beat women we * ever knew one of the kindest *? neighbors, one of the beat and moat affectionate mothers an ex tra kind and devoted wife. All these things went to make up the ' life of this good woman. , Mr*. Copeland was stricken 1 with pneumonia 28th, of Decern- 1 her, atad passed to her rewaftf in the great beyond, the 5th, of January, ahe waa in her sixtieth year. Thin occuranee took place amid sorrowing friends and loved ones, who had been standing by acting tjie part of an ever faithful servant trying as often as necessary, to <? adminesler some nourishment or C medicine that might in-some way '? check the dreaded disease and I' bring back the life that was slow- * ly ebbing away. S This life stood for so much with t! the sorely afflicted husband. Her e whose band is stijled by theiqy, $ monster death, was the one that c< soothed his brow and stood by day " and night in readiDess and often ' after she had used all her store (ft " means for his ease, would wish she ll could do more. Cl The children realizo they have " lost one-whose ulace can never be ' filled. Their loss is Heavensgain. a: One more mother iu Isreal stands with out stretched hands ready to welcome in her loved ones. We wonder why God took this a woman at the time when it looks " to us she was needed most and she ?' realized in her last hours bow ai much her life would mean to her w family. She told one of her chil- H dren, that she was not ready to die but if she did to meet her in e< Heaven, she did not mean she was ri nut prepared to meet God but if A He 8aw?fit to spare her there was l' so much more she fete she was 61 needed to do. How joyous must have been the meeting with the aged Father and mother as they stood with a beck- l' ouing hand ready to clasp her to their bosoms. j ?. Mrs. Coneland did not think she " was going to live long, she with <i her family had just moved from V the neighborhood she- had grown 1 ud in, to Ahoskie she remarked to g a close frieod just before leaving I her old friends; that she was go- II ing but when she come to liev- ?| church again she would be brought *J in her coffin and so she was. Mrs. II Copeland war an ardent church w worker. Well can it be said of M her she hath done what she could, ll she send iu her money fur the "" Christmas offering after she was H on her bed of affliction, and was II then very sick. N Mrs. i/opeiana was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, for years, and of Missionary Society also she always seemed to enjoy all the society meetings very mucb. Mrs. Copeland was a daughter of Bennett and Eliza Storey, she , leaves to mourn her death, one brother Mr. 0.1$. Storey of Mur freesboru. five sisters Mrs. Mary Carter, Mrs. H? Woodard, Mrs. U James Davis of Murfreesboro, Mrs. Endid Howell of Como, Mrs. W. Whitley of Woodland, Mrs. Copeland was twice married first to Mr. Cyrus Howell of this union there is one son Mr. Jake Howell of Como, of the Copeland union there is two sons Messrs Joe and Samuel and two daughters Miss Beulah Copeland and Mrs. B. R. Dunn and two step sons Messrs - Harvery and Charlie Copeland all g of Murfreesboro. In their sore bereavement we would commend then to Him who makes no mistakes r.nd doeth all things well, and strive to live so that when the Lord, sees fit to hall they will be able 'to answer the sumenous in a Christ-like manner and as they cross the bridge that spans the river to the great beyond they may see mother with extend ed hand and when once clasped to ber bosom it will be to them no more parting. The remains of this our sister in Christ were brought to Mt. Tabor church and laid to rest be side loved ones to await the resu rection morn. The services were conducted by her pastor Rev. 0. W. Scar borough. - *' Her sons were the pall bearers. "I I . . 1 . ? |,H Ko one need to fear to join with lie poet and Say; Safe in lite arms of Jeaua sfe no lii?
