Hupmobile
, , .- V. S ' ?',{.' - 1 I
Ask the Head of the House
The chances are he's a hard headed ?
business man.
One of those business men who is'
supposed to have no sentiment
about him.
Ask him aboutthe Hupmobile. J
Remember?he pays the bills. He knows just
what-Hupmobile service is. For hfe measures
it in dollars and cents.
He will probably begin by telling you that he
looks upon the Hupmobile as an investment.
And he will probably say it's one of the best
investments he has ever made.
He may?if he pays attention to such small
sums?pull out a note book and show you
how little he has spent on repairs in ten
or twelve or eighteen months, or in two or
three years.
And then as like as not he'll forget all about busi
ness and investment?and just bubble over \
with Hupmobile enthusiasm. hi,
We will be glad to leave you to him.
If he's the average Hupmobile owner he's a
better salesman than we are.
He will tell you intimate things of his Hupmobile
experiences that we cannot possibly know?evi
dence of Hupmobile quality with a capital "E."
And if you talk to two or three of his type?
just average Hupmobile owners?there won't
be much left for us to say when you come in
to see us.

Recognition Temporally Withheld
Why North Carolina Was Not Ac
cepted a Registration State.
Prospects Bright for Fstare Re.
cognition.
Informal application for recog
nition as a registration stale lias
been made to the Federal Census
authorities by the Stole Board of
Health. A visit has just been
made to Washington in behalf of1
state recognition by Drs. Rankin
and Gordon who plead the cause
of North Carolina before the
census experts. The amended
vitol statistics law seemed very
satisfactory, as did also the birth
registration, and for moat part,
the death regiatration.
The new director of the Census.
Mr. Samuel L. Rogers, himself a
North Carolinian, was very an
xious that his home State receive
recognition. The federal authori
ties were obliged to' i>oiut out,
however, that while the death
registration waa satisfactory thro
ughout the greater part of the
Stele sod own excellent in a great
many counties, on account of the
very poor showing, made by
Dunlin Jackson, Jones, Swain
< iud V otauga counties and the
| r.iwter poor reealts obtained in
Graham, Rutherford, Sudies,
iliatea and Currituck couutiea,
t mt at would be unfair to other
.nates to eompare figures from
Nwrth Carolina.
The hope was extended by the
federal authorities, however, that
perhaps a little later another in
vestigation might show a marked
improvement in the above counties
and that the old North State might
be accorded proper recognition
throughout the civilized world
where human beings are held in
sufficiently high esteem as to have
made official records of tbeir births
and deaths.
The State Board of Health is
confident that when the facts are
appreciated these few couutier, for
the need of a little more care and
attention to the registration of
their deaths, will not binder or
impede the progress of the State
as a whole.
