The "stork" visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Baker Thursday ' night and left a fine boy. Miss Joe Vann of Como is visiting Mrs. G. N. Harrell. Miss Sarah Vaughn is spending the winter in New York. Mt. Richard Couland is visiting his daughter, Mrs. James I. Griffin. Miss Lillie Vinson spent the week end in Pendeleton with her friend Miss Eunice Davis. Mr. C. K. Harvey of Severn was in town last week. Misses Mary and Ruth Benthall and Clay Geneva Futrell spent the week-end in St. Johns. Mr. Howard Short was taken with an attack of heart trouble while in school last week. He was taken home in an unconscious condition. Miss N. T. Wiggins left for Balti more, New York and Richmond to buy her spring stock of goods. Mr. Judge Stevenson of Richmond, Va? was in town on business last week. We are very glad indeed to report that our town is clear of the "flu" and truly hope it will continue to be so, Mr. Thomas B. Wynn has purchas ed a Studebaker six, Miss Clay Futrell delightfully en tertained a host of freinds Monday r - .evening in hor of her 17th birthday. We are glad indeed to welcome to our town Dr. W. H. Chamberlain of Winston-Salem. He has located his of fice in second floor of Citizens bank building. Dr. Cullom who is decturing on the "Million Dollar Educational cam paign was at Chowan College last week. The student body went over the top by giving $900. The faculty gave $300. We are more than proud of our Seniors who gave $50 each. Dr. Cullom was more than pleased with them. "Hurah! for old Chowan" Miss Bessie Clapp is now able to teach her classes after a spell of serious illness. Her students gave her a hearty welcome. Rev. C. W. Scarboro of Franklin, Va., was a visitor at Chowan last week. The trustees met in regards to the repairing of the roof and ot her business matters. Miss Irene Scarboro of Mt. Gilliad has returned to Chowan to resume her studies. Miss Scarboro has been absent on account of illness in her home. Miss Virginia Dare White left for Lakeview Hospital at Suffolk to un dergo an operation for appendicitis. Miss Georgenna Baldwin received a message stating the death of her sister, Miss Baldwin has resigned her position as house keeper. She was succeeded by Mrs. Vick of Aulander. The Alathenian club delightfully entertained the Lucalian Saturday evening in the Alathenian club room First prize was won by Miss Edith Moore. . ~~ NOTICE!
