WINTON WAVELETTS Mr. John Northcott, who has been working in Wilkinsburg, West Va., returned, home last Saturday night. He left Tuesday for Norfolk where he has accepted a position in the elec trical department in the Navy Yard. Misses Susie Brett and Genievieve Taylor from Chowan College spent the week end with parents here. Mr. Floyd Jenkins spent Monday in Suffolk. Rev. A. P. Mustian and Mr. P. E. Shaw left Monday for Elizabeth Ci ty, where they will attend a meet ing of the Seventy-Five Million Dol lar Campaign. Mr. Robert Vann, of Suffolk, spent the week end with parents here. Rev. B. M. Lackey spent the lat- j ter part of last week in Goldsboro, I where he attended a Diocesan Con ference of the Episcopal Church. Mrs. C .E. Eure, from Roduca, was the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. H. Lee, a f^w days last week Mrs S. P. Taylor spent last week in Elizabeth City visiting relatives. Mr. Duke Eure and bride spent a part of last week with their sister, Mrs. I .V. Turner. Mr. Robert Britton spent last Sat urday in Suffolk. Mrs. A. P. Mustian is away at this writing visiting her parents near En field. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Herring gave a ha yride Monday night in honor of the five girls who sold tickets on the blue side tpr'the Chautauqua of | which Mr rterring was Captain. The Rateliffe Chautauqua which | was given in Winton last week was j well attended. The interest in Chautauqua work is growing rapidly in our town and also throughout the County. The purpose of the Chautauqua this year was t oentertain and educate and in this it was a great success. We are sure that every one who attended the whole series of program mes was greatly benefitted by the classical entertainment and the edu cational instruction which the Chau tauqua offered this year. I nhonor of her eighteenth birth day, Miss Effie Grant most charming ly entertained, on Tuesday evening, her many friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Storey. Two ve ry interesting contests were enjoyed in which Miss Helen Turner captured both prizes. Before departing the guests were invited in the dining room where they were served with a most delicious luncheon. Those present were: Misses Pearl Jenkins, Gladys Jenkins, Helen Turner, Bes sie Loe, 'Anna Lec Carter, Olethia ^'ick, of Winton and Iola Gray of Roanoke Rapids; Messrs.
