Misses Etta Blair and Bessie Teague went to High Point Monday on the afternoon train. Mr and Mrs S W Crowson, of Cara way, spent Sunday here with their daughter, Mrs 0 W Rich. The trial of Ernest Haywood for killing Ludlow Skinner is in pro gress at Raleigh this week. . Ex-Lieutenant Governor Tillman's trial for killing N G Gonzales is Bearing an end at Lexington, S. C. County commissioners were in ses sion Monday and quite a number of prominent citizens were in attendance Judge T. J. Shaw, of Greensboro, was here Saturday. He has been visiting his sister Mrs. Robt N. Page ot Biscoe. There were quite number of peo ple here from the county attend ing the ent meeting which closed Sunday night. Capt Burns is taking a vacation and Mr Allen Hale is running as conductor on the Southern during his absence. Gen. Bradley Johnson, an old con federate veteran, and a prominent lawyer died at his sen's home in Vir ginia last Monday. Mrs E A Caudle and children left this morning for Salisbury to visit relatives. Irom there they go to their now home at Ilillsboro. Mr. H. D. Scarboro came in from High Point Tuesday. Mr. Scarboro has bought a store in High Point and is in business there. Mr. Buf us Deatou, who has been in the A. 4 A. K. B. office here left last Friday for South Carolina where he goes to engage in the 1 amber bus iness. The election in Raleigh, N. Bagwell, who has been spending some time in Asheboro vis iting her sister, Mrs. N. P. Cox, left last i riday afternoon for her home at Raleigh. We have on hand five hundred nice school bags, which we will give to children in exchange for two good feed or brand sacks. Asheboro Roller Mills. Rev. P. H. Flemming, pastor of the Christian church in Burlington was in Asheboro Monday. Mr McDowell lost his life in a West Virginia railroad accident a year ago. Greens boro ratriot. Mr Z F Rush, Sr., of this place showed us a leaf of tobacco this week which he raised eight miles south of here that measured 3 feet and 1 inch long and 2 feet wide. S. steam ship Kearsarge, gave his peo ple a pleasant surprise last week by entering the house unexpectedly. Mrs. Mdgett, bis mother, was de lighted beyond expression to see him. Tebe is a noble boy, a good conver sationalist and we predict for him a career in the service of his country of which his people and our grand conntry may justly be proud. A special train will leave Sanford to the Greensboro Fair on Thursday October 15th, at 7 o'clock a. m. and returning to Sanford at 6 p. m. Bindlcmis Votes (traded School. An election was held at Randle man last Tuesday on the qnestion of levying a special tax of 30 cents on each one hundred dollars valnation and 90 cents on each poll for the purpose of establishing a graded school. The vote was 132 to 16 in favor of the tax. A new school house will be built is early as possible.- It will be by far the best public school building in the county. NOTICE! Uur efficient superinten dent, Mr E C Watkins is a broad- minded, up-to-date, progressive young man and knows a good thing w hen he Bees it. He is a man that believes in doing a thing right and iis'u proof of this fact, he has had all the com pany houses repaired and painted, all the old well houses torn down and new ones erected in their stead. He is a man of which we are justly proud, "a chip off the old block. Give us more such men and old Ramseur will come out of the kinks." The Alberta Chair Works have added 40 feet to its already capaci ous warehouse. Which makes it about 175 feet long. The business is increasing rapidly.
