SWANNANOA TcNNBL. j We were informed that a small slide had occurred near Swanuanoa tunnel which caused a delay and transfer Friday. There has been no slide; but, as is known, the Rail road Company have been at work some time walling in the tunnel with solid masonrv: and in the construe tion of this work it was considered precaution, wnilo removing some old timber, to make transfers yes terday and to day. There is no accident nor other obstacle save that which is made necessary in the prosecution of the work of walling. in,whichJonly occasioned a few min utes delay for Friday and yester day. All is well, and solid, to-dav and the trains will run through regularly, on time to-day and here after. Supt. McBee and his force have had a tough job on their hands, but have managed it with excellent skill and prevision, and now the grand old tunnel is all right, to stay. Boilixg Wells ix North Caro lina A special from Raleigh, N. C, to the N. Y. Herald nays : ''The wells in the vicinity of Wood, Johnton county, are reported as being violently disturbed and to be boiling and bubbhng.with loud noises. At a distance of thirtv 3ards from the mouth of somo wells this noise is plainly psrceptible. The phenomenon was observed some days ago. The soil is sandy in that section. Nothing like it was ever before known here." Within half a mile of our Hot Springs is a boiling spring, the wa ter bubbling up constantly, throw ing up sand with it. The spring is some twelve or fifteen feetn diam eter, but its depth has never been ascertained. We once saw a ten foot fence rail thrown into it wilh some force, end downwards; it went completely out of sight and after a few seconds was thrown to the sur face with some force. It is a very remarkable spring, and we have never heard a reasonable explana tion of it. The water is cool, not cold, but to look at it bubbling up one would think great heat was un derneath. Proressioiial tiquc(lc prevents some doctors from advertising their skill, but we are bound by no such conventional rules and think that if we make a discovery that is of her 'lit to our fellow?, we ought to spread the fact to the whole land. Therefere we cause to be published throughout the land the fact that Dr. R. V. Pierce's "Golden Medical Discovery" is the best known remedy for consumption (ecrofula of the lungs) and kindred diseases. Send 10 cents in stamps for Dr Pin e's complete treatise on consumption, with unsurpass ed loesns of self-treatment. Address, Wot Id's Dispensary Medical Association, Cfi3 Main Street, Buffalo, N. However, this may be, it is a truth that many people contribute to their early decline r.y marked imprud ences. One of these is clearly shown to day by hundreds who disregard the la'S's ot health and expose themselves to the vigors of winter without due regard to its consequences. What ure these, you ask? The death roll will tell you. The answer is Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Croup, Whoon- ing t-ougn, coins and Asthma, and ttie severer pulmonary troubles usually can be traced to these exposures.
