New York, March 21. There was a great rush of funerals yester day to the various cemeteries about New York, although the roads were bad and the drawing tedious. At Calvary there were 243 interments, the largest ever known in as ingle day. At Cypress Hill 12; bodies were received, and of this number about fifty were put in the ground, the others being taken to the receir iog vaults. At the cemetery of the Evergreens seventy funerals entered and alt were ground interments. At Greenwood there were fully two bundled interments, and about twenty b'jdies were placed in the receiving vaults. The Holy Cross cemetery was inaccessible to large funerals. About twenty appeared there with great difficulty. Tbe Chatsworth disaster has al-"eadv-cost the Toledo, Peoria and WT..-sr:in Railroad more than S'too,- ooa in damages, and there is ioo, 000 yet to pay A new culvert, costing $400, would have saved this amount. At the morning sen. vice Sunday .1 collection of $2,302 was made for this purpose. The Methodists are both earnest and liberal in this State. The Wilmington Star says : Work is progressing finely on the railway to Wrightsville. The grad i ti to the "Martin" road is nearly finished and the small trestle over Macumber's ditch is completed. After striking the "Martin" grade 'here will hs comparatively little to do at this em! of the line and soon the hands will be throwing the dirt nearer the Sound, than town. The trestle is across the channel near Captain Manning's place, and the workmen are in the marsh beyond. Undoubtedly there will be some sort of accomodation for visitors on the hamtr-.oi.ks this "summer, as a force of hands is now there clean ing up the grounds. RACKET STORE ITEMS. Our store has lost none of its prestige as the Bargain Store of Asheviile, and we contemplate putting in such a spring and summer stock as will show our appreciation of past favors. We can show enquirers beyond the shadow of a doubt that we (through our connec tion with No. 466 Broadway, N.
