The a eft toil of flie stock market today showed as much, activity as at any time since the com mencemeat of the bull campaign. The market was excessively irregular on the opening: and evidently more than one factor was at work seeking to in fluence prices. London Quotations were not wholly aattsfactory but standard: houses' bere were among the best 'buyers and com.-; mission houses aitoo had srood orders which presumably over Sunday. The features offset the attacks of those who evidently expected the weakness of the lastt half hour Satur day to continue this morning. During the afternoon the latter element proved successful and prices suffered a cori- slderable decline. Later dealings were on covering eo that the level of prices was practically unchanged, the closing being: firm. We have for some time advanced the belief that top prices were in eight and today we are firm believers in that ad vice. CHICAGO BOAUD OP TRADE. C5hicsro. Jan. 30.
