The boand of directors of the Good
Roads associaition met yesterday after
noon. Newton M. Anderson and Chas.
A. Mitchell were elected active mem
bers of the association. The condition
of the mountain drives was discussed
and the advisability of working sev
eral new ones was considered.
A party leaves thife morning for
Craggy and will return Friday after
noon. The party will be chaperoned by
Mr. and Mrs. Jos.. Stevens. Among
those who will go are: Misses Fannie
and Ina Moore, Miss Hattie White,
(Miss Hattie Cornell, Miss Josie Rice;
Messrs. W; A. Webb, A. D. Stoner
and John A. Guffey.
The Asheville Information Bureau
will be opened August 1 at 35 1-2 Pat
ton 'avenue with O. C. Mills manager.
It is the purpose to give all kinds of
inf'ormaition, furnish guides for moun
tain trips, etc., camping outfits andto

and resources. It will be run on a sub
scription basis, $1 being charged for

On last Friday Jas. Stevenson arid
wife, both aged 76, celebrated the 52d
anniversary of their marriage at their
home on Smith's mountain. They have
iBved in Buncombe county all their lives
and were never out of the state. Thy
have had 11 children, 7 of ' whom
ar living and have twenty-two grand
children and five great grandchildren.
