The following were the rultog quota- lions in the exchange today; By priVBite wire to Murphy & Co New York, May 17. The Iiondort market showed material advances in contrast with yesterday's final prices o(f local market. The most noted1 advan ces were shown in St. Paul, Union Pa cific, New York Central, Louisville & Nashvilte .vnd Southern Railway shares. Eirie common, allien was one of the active features of the market did not respond to the advance' appearing in that stock in the London market, but was firm around yesterday's final lev el. There were also active dealings among the lower iprieed stocks in Ches apeake and Ohio, the Wabash issues;, Ontario and Western, N. & W., the lasit named being notably strong. The United States Steel stocks 'furnished the bulk of the dealing in the Indus trial quarter and were exceedingly firm. American Sugar was strong and more active than for some time and cpscco shares continued firm cn com-v-.ratively light dealings. Among the a "cialties lAmalgamated 'Copper after opening at a material advance became reactionary while International Power scored a further material advance. Evidences of increased interest in the Anthracite stocks appeared and were chiefly expressed in Ontario & Western and the Erie shares. Little was done among the local traction shares.
