Liarge engines, - of three driving wheels, are supplanting the old Roger two-wheelers in hauling the passenger trains on the iWestern railroad. Two are already in use and a third will be put on next week. The larger engines mean more style, more regular sched ules, and no further need of a "helper"' to pull trains up the ridge from Old Fort, says a Salisbury special. An anniversary dinner in honor of Mrs. Margaret Young on her 88th birthday will be held oft, Saturday, June 29th. Charles Holshouser, who lives at Rockwell, probably come next to Jacob Holshouser in respect to age, he will be 85 in October, being born in 1816 also. The gentleman ;was a hundred or more miles away from home at the time and his family did not learn of the accident until sev eral days after the calf was killed. On the same day they discovered the dead animal the gentleman wrote home and in his letter he stated that he dreamed on the night previous that one of his calves was dead.
