Special to the Gnzette-News. Atlanta. June 17. Realization by- farmers of the southeast of the jrreat benefits to lie secured by the use of agricultural lime and a consequent rapid increase in the consumption of that product are indicated in the report of the freight trattle department of the Southern Hallway company for May. The report shows that plants turning out this product at points on the Southern railway in Virginia now have a daily capacity of HuOO barrels ami that additions anil improvements now in progress (ind prospect will in- rease this output to f.U0O barrels daily in a short time, while onlv a few years ORo the entire capacity was 75 barrels r day. The use of agricultural lime and its beneficent effeits, particularly on sour. oil la kin" nitrogen and cniiseitently deficient in plant food. Is attracting the attention of soil experts and asri- iltiiral writers as are few other sub- jeets at this lime. A most interesting. )..ih r showing the good effects to be obtained, entitled "lliilletin No. 1." has been issued by the Virginia truck ex periment station, located at Norfolk. A number of bulletins on the same subject have been Issued by the bureau of soils of the United States depart ment of agriculture from which copies can lie produced by farmers and any-1 one interested in soil improvement. j The govtrnment experiments and the expel tences of individual farmers which tire d.alt with in these bulletins -hould prove of unusual interot to pi. niters and farm land owners ..f tl,.
