Clem ency for more than 100 long-term prisoners who for years have served the state in the coal mines of north Alabama and elsewhere as leased convicts, was granted hy Governor Comer yesterday and can be directly attributed to the genius of Lord By ron. Before the g-overnor made his annual trip through the prisons he re-read Byron's "Prisoner of Chllon," the thought of the hopelessness of prison confinement so eloquently told by the poet struck the governor forcibly. "I have given the matter careful consideration," said the governor, "and I could find no good reason for keeping these mejp who bad served o long and so disastrously to their own health and happiness." These paroles are Issued to prison- ers who have good prison records, and in practically every case the board of pardons were heartily in accord with them. Many persons find themselves af fected with ii persistent cough after an attack of influenza. As this cough can be promptly- cured by th use of Chamberlaind's Cough Remedy, it should not be allowed to run on until it becomes troublesome. Sold by all dealers. They last for Iseveral years, and when they wear out he cuts out some more, and he claims they beat the teeth th dentists make. We think the old man ought to have a pension, as he has worked most of the time for small wages.
