The agitation appears to have been much more preceptible to the south ward than it was here. One man hv- ng in Hendersonville, who was there at the time of the Charleston earth quake, says that the shock last week was quite similar to that of the fam ous earthquake perhaps not so vio lent. The "Caesar's Head" itself accord ing to reports, is intact, but a great mass of the cliff has tumbled down the sheer drop of some 500 feet to the foot. It is said that the slide was due to fissure which appeared many years ago, and has been gradually widen ing; by the action of the elements, from a tiny crack ten years ago to such a chasm that a man could go into it a dozen feet or more. GEN. RAY CALLS VETERANS ATTENTION TO REUNION Hi union Promises to Be tin- "Greatest We Have Ever Had," He Says. Brigadier General J, M. Ray, U. C. V., has addressed the following- commun ication to his comrades relative to the approaching reunion of the United Confederate veterans at Little Rock. Ark.. May 16-18: "Comrades: The time for the gen eral reunion of Confederate Veterans is fast approaching. As you are al ready aware It will be held this year in Little Rock. Ark., May 1, 17 and 18, 1911. From all accounts It promises to be one of the greatest we have ever had; the city of the West the "City of Roses," as its friends are wont to call it. Is making strenuous efforts to eclipse the cities horetoforc timing entertained us. Aside from what we may hope to see and" enjoy there, the trip of itself will be a most Interesting one, passing over and through, as It does, much territory over which a great many of us cam paigned and fought over, in days a half century gone, but still fresh to memory. "Our route will be via Morrlstown (5:15 p.m.) Knoxvllle (6:45 p.m.) and Chattanooga (10 p. m.), thence either by way of Stevenson and Florence, Ala., and Corinth, Miss., to Memphis, From Memphis we take the Rock la- land route, going by Brlnkley and De Vall's Bluff, Ark., to Little Rock. We got the usual rates allowed by all railroads to Confederate Veterans one cent a mile each way. From Ashe vllle the fare will be $14.50 for the round trip. Tickets go on sale Satur day, May 13th and the following dates 14th and 15(h and are good returning until May 23rd, but may be extended in the usual way to June 14th. Stop over privileges are very liberal. A special coach (or coaches) furnished for our exclusive use will leave Ashe vllle on Sunday afternoon at 3:05, al lowing Veterans from the branch roads to get in in time to make this Teams connection without stopping over night In Ashevllle. On this schedule we are duo to arrive in Little Rock next evening at 7:30.
