The program of sports Is com plete; the Moats that the business men of Asheville will have in the parade are being made ready; the merchants of the town will close their places of business; the financial Institutions will dose their doors for the day and la bor Mill be given a holiday. Indica tions are that the celebration will be the most generously olserved of any previous affair. The parade bids fair to be interesting, while the sports at Riverside park during the day, with a "Unless something should happen" there will be one edition, only, of this paper Monday Labor day and It will be printed at 2 o'clock. The first AshevUle-Cleveland base ball game will be called at 11 o'clock Monday morning, the second game will be called at 4 o'clock In the afternoon. Robert C. Goldstein of the Asheville High school faculty, who was one of the successful candidates who passed the recent law examination will con tinue his work at the High school. Tomorrow at 11 o'clock. Rev. Many Asheville firms will have oats In the parade that will pass over the principal streets of the town Monday morning, while still other usiness firms will be represented In he parade In some manner. The pa rade will start from the Auditorium at 9:30 o'clock and will go out Hay wood street, and moving west to Pat ton avenue, east on Patton avenue to Church street, south on Church street Willow, east on Willow to South Main, north on South Main to Pack square, around the Square to Patton venue, west on Patton avenue to Haywood and lo the Auditorium' and luperse. The program at Riverside park calls 'for a ball game between Ashe- llle and Cleveland at 11 o'clock In the morning and another game at 4 'clock In the afternoon. At 2 o'clock n the afternoon the sports at the park will begin and will include: Men's foot race, Unit and second prizes; boys foot rare, first and second prtxes; girls' foot race, first and second prises; pole walking contest, first and second prises; boat race, first and second prizes; swimming race, first and sec ond prizes. Then follows a band concert, and at 4 o'clock Asheville and Cleveland will start the second ball game. In the evening there will be music, mov- ng pictures and fireworks. Capt. Jack Robinson will be chief marshal of the parade, while his as sistants will Include J. B. Do It on Frank Llndsey, Dr. L. R. McHrayer and I. W. Glaser. A prize of $10 Is offered tor the best float In the pa rade and a second for 15. Mr. Sams is a North Carolinian and has num bers of friends here who will be pleased to hear him. There were three or four "women of the underworld in police court this morning. They were given lines of $15 for the proprietresses of th houses and $5 for the Inmates. L. P. Maden was found not guilty of car rying a concealed weapon. There will be a general teachers meeting for white teuchers In the High school building Monday after noon at 5 o'clock, and all teachers are urged to attend. An Interesting program has been arranged for the Chestnut Street Methodist church for tomorrow even ing which will be a program by the Children and will take the place of the regular evening service. Schoenfeld, formerly of New Orleans, but now proprietor of the sulphur springs at Sulphur Springs, states thst he Is going to put the water of these springs on the mar ket very soon and he desires to tn vlte the public to come and see his springs and the health farm and to drink the water before this la done. He states that the whole place is being Improved and has been - made very attractive. He was accused of an assault with a desdly weapon on Champ Lo gan, a negro, with carrying a conceal ed weapon and with being drunk. For carrying the concealed weapon he was sentenced to SO days oa the roads and was given f 0 days for assault with a deadly weapon. He appealed and the bond In all the cases was fixed at 1200. Logan testified that he had been working for Murray and as the result was sent to the county roads for sell ing whisker; that there were certain costs, amounting to about 111, con nected with the case, which he tried to get Murray to pay yesterday; that Murray gave him ft and refused to pay more and when Logan Insisted Murray said he would shoot Loffan snd attempted to get his pistol, when he.
