Gazette-News Bureau, The Hotel Ra'.uigh, , i Raleigh. Oct 2. The first day of the trial of L. J Norris, for the alleged murder of J B. Blssett on the night of August 1? ended with the defendant on the stand undergoing a searching cross examination by Solicitor Herbert E Norris. Every movement of the de fendant on the fatal night has beer, scrutinised and every question asked was for the purpose of breaking down the story he related early Saturday afternoon of his whereabouts thai night. The prosecution scored a point when It got in as evidence a signed statement by Norris detailing hh movements. The statement was pro cured by Constable D. R. Byrum. A difference of 15 minutes In the time he spent at a store has been brought out from the use of the statement. A dozen witnesses for the state tes tified that Norris and Blssett and Ada Yerby got In a carriage and drove off together, it being admitted that Nor ris left the others at the corner of Swain and Davie streets. It Is the theory of the prosecution that Norris then walked rapidly to the place ol he killing and took his time about shooting his victim, who had com slowly around by the road. The case will, not be concluded be fore Tuesday. New Chief Clerk Named. E. B. Friends of Superintendent Chllner, of ths eity water and, light plant, are at a loss whether to class him as the meanest man In Arkansas or the most Ingenious one. The water department has a Mis souri mule which possessed a reputa tlou of being the laziest quadruped ev r Wnessed !! Mr. Chllner rigged a patent started on the wagon to he drawn by It. He put a small electric lottery with a switch convenient to ths drivers hand, and attached an In sulated wire to the. headstall ot the bridle, thence to the ring oa ths bit and then back to lis tall. So the doctor gets his fee for the stomach treatment and the druggist for the physic, until the savings of a lifetime are exhausted and yet no cure. Let's be reasonable. The sick stomach Is In every case the result of over-eating, hurried mas tication and Improper choice of foods. The mucous lining all the way down the food tract loses Its sensitiveness, and when food Is forced down the muscles fail to respond. They do not ohurn the food as they should. The glands no longer give out gastric Juice to dissolve the food and ren der It capable of assimilation. The man has become a dyspeptic. There Is one sure way and only one to bring positive relief. Put Into that stomach of yours the very elements that it larks to get that food Into li quid form. It takes pepsin, diastase, widen seal and other ferments to ac complish this. The healthy stoTnach contains these elements.. The dys peptic stomach lacks part or all of them. Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablet Is made up of Just what the dyspeptic stomach lacks Nature's digestives. Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets are not a medicine, not a drug, not a cathar tic. They do not cure anything but Dyspepsia and Indigestion and such ailmants as arise from poorly digested food. While they digest the food the stomach recuperates. The mucous mucous membrane is coming out of Its stupor, the gastric juice Is coming to the surface, the muscles are regaining their power. Every organ of the body takes on new life, the skin gains col or, and the eyes are no longer tinged with yellow. You live. Why doctor and why drug your self? Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets will take care of your food while Nature cures you. Try a box at your druggist's, 66 cents. Or, If you prefer a free trial package before buying, send your name and address today. F. A. Stuart Co., 150 Stuart Bidg., Marshall, Mich. whips. Mr. Chllner has applied for patents. Tarrytown Dispatch to Philadelphia Record. Dr. W. B. Moorehouse owns a re markable cat whUch for some time has been acting as his letter carrier. The doctor has many letters to mall and like the average man, his memory Is weak In " this respect. and letters sometimes have remained In his pocket for days. Instead of be ing placed In the letter box. 1 The doctor decided to teach his cat to carry the letters to the box and be relieved of responsibility. This was easy, for all the cat had to do was walk across the street, climb a pole. push out the id with her paw. and drop In the letter. One morning the cat did the cleverest trick yet. The doctor gave her a letter to mull and sent her out to the box. In a : few minutes she returned with the letter still In her mouth. The doctor had forgotten to place a stamp on It The cat noticed the omission and brought the letter back to her master. Van-Partisan W detune foe Prexiilrnt In Uncnln. Lincoln, Oct. t.
