Buncombe County Corn Con test committee, of which George S Powell of this city Is chairman, com pleted yesterday the arrangement of the prizes for the successful contest ants in the corn and poultry contests, and these will' be awarded Friday, December 15, at the county , court house; and at the same time a seed corn contest will be held. The mer chants and the business men of the city and county have been very lib eral in donating to the prize fund, and a total of $137 In cash and mer chandise has been secured. . Out of this comes 118.50 for the prizes In the girl's poultry contest; but the prizes In this will be awarded at the show of the Ashevllle Poultry and Pet Stock association, which begins here December 12. This fund might be Increased before the prizes are awarded. Mr. Millsaps and Mr. Par ker of the state agricultural depart ment will be present when the prizes are awarded. A great deal of Interest has been shown in these contests this year, es pecially In the boys' and man's corn contests. Several of the contestants have already sent In their reports and while the results are not to be made public. It Is stated that many of them will run over the 100 bushel mark; and It would not be surprising If the winner will have to go above 150 bushels, in both contests. E. D.
