Cocke of counsel fur Mrs. Harrison makes the following state ment: ' "The case of Mrs. Harrison is dis tressingly snd. ; There has been the gravest apprehension concerning her sanity since the birth of her only child, Walter, Jr., six months ago, and this circumstance of her mental de thronement makes the ease all the more pitiable and to be deplored. "In an effort to arrest this mental trouble .Mrs. Harrison had been ex amined a few weeks ago by Dr. H. C. Long at his sanitarium at Slntesville with the result that he advised Imme diate confinement at Morganton. This opinion of Dr. Long wag shared by other eminent specialists. "The young wimira'n family were insistent in carrying out the physi cian's advice: however, they were overruled by the young husband who contended that a change to Asheville and treatment here would he the bet ter course. While of Hickory, with other members of the family, is now In Asheville, and the matter will be taken up nt nn early date, when a proper disposition will be made of it." , The hearing of the evidence by the coroner and Jurv was concluded late yesterday afternoon, and the elrcum stnnces brought out were substan tially the same as published yesterday in The Gazette-News. The Jury, com posed of T. P. Johnson, J. H. Rich ardson, J. K. Misenheimer. James Corn, W. P. McCollister, and T. P.. Kelley, returned the following ver dict: "We find that the deceased came to his death by a pistol shot tired by his wife." Owing to the bad weather of the past few days, Street Superintendent .1. T. Itostic has stopped the work on Victoria road, which he has had under way for several days.
