A LARGE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN NOW ON The l .1.11 Itself. Its Mtr limits iiikI Southern I .mi. I Aim Il.in Company In this time people from the out side world are very apt to be influ enced in their opinion of a town or village by the opinion which the peo ple of the town have themselves, even if they do not accept the opinion in toto. M any rate it is certain that visitors will have no faith In a town whose inhabitants have no faith in It. In The Gazette-News of today there are two two-page advertise ment! carried by the people of Weav erville. One page is made up of ad vertisements of enterprising mer chants and that of the town itself, and the other is an advertisement of the Southern Land Auction company oi Weaverville and Asheville. Which proposes to sell several residence and business lots In YVeuverville on Wednesday. The former advertise ment also appeared in the morning paper yesterday. One cannot visit the town now Without being made immediately aware of the fact that the people there are waking up to the importance at making their attractions known to the outside world. This Is one of the thing! that they talk about almost constantly. It can easily be seen that they have faith in their town as a residence district, and improvement is i lo order of the day. Just now Ihe efforts of the most I Helvetic and public spirited citizens are bent toward getting voted an is sue ol bonds $20,000 to bring water to the town. There are still a good many of the residents that profess to b. lievc that this is not necessary but it is thought that the .bonds will carry. The people are expecting this to be a record season in the matter of tour ists. The town's tourists are "re pi ators." They come once they gen i rally come again and again. With the schedule maintained by the Ashe ville and East Tennessee railroad they can have most of the advantages of the city and country at the same Dme. With re'erence to the adver tisement of the auction: the offering consists of eight business lots, 10 res idence lots and three cottages. This is without doubt the most saleable tract that has ever been put on the market In Weaverville. It Is on Main street in the very heart of the town and adjoins the terminal property of the Asheville and East Tennessee rail rond and the property of the bank, where a new brick building is belns erected. A gold watch will be given away at the sale and there will be music hv a brass band.
