There are a good many visitors in
the Weavervllle section yet, and some
of them have declared that this is the
most pleasant part of the season that
they have spent In the mountains.
This is what they call an ideal cli
mate; and they , are very enthusiastic
about the crisp, cool atmosphere.
Some of them have expressed the in
tention of staying until the leaves have
turned in order to see the gorgeous
coloring of the mountains. ' It is safe
to say that they will not regret It, for
it will be worth their time even If they
have spent an Indian summer here
before.
Nearly every day tmall parties leave
Weavervllle to spend a night or two
on Craggy, although the nights on that
mountain are almost like winter. This
is the month pf the "harvest moon
and those who have Just returned
from Craggy declare that the moun
tains by moonlight there are beautiful
beyond description.
Within ten minutes after an appll-!

Students to Take Poison.
Philadelphia, Sept 25. Simultane
ous with the opening of the Hahne
mann Medical college the work of the
poison squad among the students
started anew for the purrent term.
Dr. Edwin It Nesbit, who has the
chair of pharmacology, asked for vol
unteers among the freshmen to aug
ment the squad among the upper
class men
The volunteers will be placed upon
a restricted diet and will then receive
minimum doses of a variety of poi
sons so that the physicians in charge
13.50 1 will be able to study the toxic effect
4.00 , upon the human system.
Notwithstanding the abundance of
fruit throughout this part of the state,
some of the fruit growers in the
Reems creek country have permitted
few of their apples to go to waste. A
gentleman stated yesterday that one
commission firm here had bought sev
eral car loads of apples from the
Reems creek growerta, and that they
had been paid fairly good prices.
Peaches were more plentiful this
vear, of course, tnan mey nave oeen
for many years, but one grower at
Weavervllle sold . practically every
Deach he had, and he says that he
revived good prices throughout the
season. It is true that he pocked
them in baskets attracively and did
tint nttnmnt to dlsDose of them In
bulk. But even those which were ol
fered in bulk brought reasonably good
nrices.
This ha been a happy year for the
thriftv housewife. No doubt the
amounts of preserves, Jellies, and can
ned fruits would be astonishing.
