There was a close game of baseball yesterday afternoon on the Montford Avenue school diamond, when the Ashland Avenue Athletic association defeated the .Montford boys bv the score of 10 to 9. It was a fast hit and-run game and gave delight to the large gathering of the youthful fans of the city. The building boom, however, ' Is not conilned to business houses. There .are at least' 30 line residences now being erected In the city, the costliest of these to be worth $30,000, situat ed in Victoria. The others will range in con from $3000 to $10,000, some of them more; a very few less. ' Con tracts have been made for the erec tion of a great, many others during the spring and summer months, and all of them will be of the very best materials and most modern architec ture. Building Inspector Leonard, stat ed today that the most striking thing to him about these buildings and the Improvement work on buildings in Ashevllle Just now Is that a great deal more money Is being expended in their erection and more care taken to make them modern and lasting than ever before known. 'Evidently all who are engaged in the building boom are confident of the future of the city and are making their foun dations solid, it Is a solid boom, with no Inflation, and the prosperity of Ashevllle Is thus represented as It could not possibly be otherwise.
