We were discussing holdups the bar tender and myself. 1 never hnd faced i the muzzle of a revolver In thetmndf of a determined man., The bartendei bad been held up three times. So when tbe bartender said "What's yours?" and tbe short one said "Just put np your hands!" I was not sur prised. I don't know- whether the bar tender was or not He put bis bands above bis bend. Neither of the visitors paid tbe least attention to, me, but I determined not to be -left out of tbe game alto gether, so my hands went np also. There was no real need of my doing it I argued with myself, and, of course, If I wanted to 1 would put them down, but I didn't want to. , , The taller of tbe two men stepped nimbly behind the bar and rifled the cash register. Then be went quickly out of tbe door, and the short mun backed out after him, keeping the bar tender covered until be reached the dnrk alley. I stood still watching the place where he had disappeared. My face was hot, and there was a peculiar feeling In my throat I felt light on my feet "Yon can take 'em down, now," said tbe bartender very calmly; I remem bered then that my arms were still stretched above my bead. I let them slide down, but I did not look at the bartender. I tried to speak, but some thing choked me. It was swallow of beer I bad taken Into my mouth as he robber entered. 1 wiped my eyes, and the.' felt better. 1 began to get control of myself. I felt as If the blood In' my volos bad been stopped several hours. "Why don't youse call tbe police sta tion?" chlded the bar polisher. Dee. 8. The eight Navajo Indiana who surrendered to General Scott last Sunday were sen tenced lato yesterday by Federal Judge Pope. Two of them were given 30 days In jail at Gallup and six were given sentences of 16 days each Judge Pope lectured them on the fol ly and futility of their reoent actions.
