Webb and found to be mis taken. Marshal Webb staled today that Inspector Kirk and Special Agent Bolton told him that a small German Hag. about four by six inches, was found on the back of a chair in the yard near the hotel and at once re moved. It was so small that the guards had not noticed it. the officials at the camp stated.. The flag was seen bv a Southern Railway engineer who was passing the stockade near the railway tracks.. J. W. Howerton and Secretary P.uckner of the board of trade yesterday inspected the road from Asheville to Old Fort by way of Round Knob. At Old Fort the party met President H. T5. Varner of the North Carolina Oood Roads association, chairman of the prison board, and J. R. Collie, superintendent of the stale prison. It had been stated that the prison officials would remove the convicts to tho state farm to pick cotton, but it is thought now that arrangements can be made to leave them on the road until it Is completed.
