formed, the Philanthropic Society
upon whom devolved the dutv of
electing Commencement orator for
1879, have selected for the honorable

ator from Ohio, Hon. Ajlen G. Thur
man, at present the most prominent
Democratic candidate for the Presi
dency inl880. This eminent gen
llemau has accepted the invitation
