Care ful observation for many years establishes the fact that a horse fed on ground grain will last and work a quarter longer than he will if fed on unground corn, oats, alid other whole grain. The first named will be as young and as serviceable w hen sixteen years old as the latter will be at twelve. Not only the grinding teeth of a horse wear out prematurely by this excess of jaw work in grip ding hard corn.but the mill often barely cracks the kernel, and only the moiety of J the nourishment in the grain is extracted in its passage through the alimentary carrar. While the muscular labor of grinding so much grain in the lifetime of a .horso is considerable, the loss in food consumed is far greatertthan the market value of the animal, by its not being fully digested. Tho loesof feeding unground corn to oxen, cows and hogs is generally more than in ' feeding ol horses. x Commission Merchant, ... , SELLS ALL KINDS "OF COUNTRY PRODUCE. iy coLYJinniA. s.
