Those who have deserted to the service of the enemy, or who have deserted after hav ing been once pardoned for the same of fence, and those who shall desert, or absent themselveswithont authority after the pub lication of this order, are excluded from its benefits. ; Nor does the offer of pardon ex tend to' other offences than desertion and absence Without permission. By the same authority, it is also declared that no general amnesty wiU again -be granted, and those who refuse to accept the pardon lyw offered, or who shall hereafter desert or absent themselves without leave, shall suffer such punishment as the Courts may impose, and no application for clem ency will be. entertained. Taking new resolution from the fate which our enemies intended for us, let every men devote all his energies to th common de fence. Our resources, wisely and vigorously em ployed, are ample, and with a brave army, sustained by a determined and united peo ple, success, with God's assistance, cannot be doubtful. The advantages oi' the enemy will have but little value if ws do not permit them to impair our resolution.. Let us, then, oppose constancy to adversity, fortitude to suffer ing and courage to -danger, with the firm assurance that lie who gave freedom to our fathers will bless the efforts of theft- chil dren to preserve it.. Mobile paperp of the latest dates, represent the negroes enlisting in large numbers n that city. The train captured on the Florida railroad on the 27th ult- , had several bags of delay ed mail from Richmond for Mobile and the west. Twenty thousand dollars worth of postage stamps for Mobile was captured. The Southern Express lost the contents of their safe and the packages for the trip. Selma was attacked on Sunday evening, 2d inst., by the enemy 9,000 strong, who drove our forces from their entrenchments and turned the left flank, capturing thehRy and a large number of prisoners. The Yan kees still occupy the place. . Thomas Barrett, president of the City Bank uf Augusta, died in this city on Sun day, 2d-inst. He was a prominent banker andcitizen, and well known in financial cir cles, north and south. Gen- Iraboden is in this city to-day, very anxious to get te the field in the Valley of Virginia, and begin the campaign.
