Town Ordinance.
THE following ordinance was passed by a u iani- ous
vote of the Commissioners of the town of Charlotte,
! at their last regular meeting, held on the night of the
1 11 th of September, 1854.
Be it Ordained, by the Board of Commissioners for
: the Town of Charlotte, That in future, no one shall
. carry concealed about his person within the corporate
limits of said town, any Pistol, Bowie-knife, or other un
lawful weapon. And any person violating this Ordin- !
ancc shall, upon conviction before the lutendant, pay '
I a fine of Ten dollars for each and every such weapon so j
j carried as aforesaid ; and if the offender be a minor his i
j parent or guardian shail py said fine, and the lute.

A New Map of North Carolina.
THE undersigned are preparing, and will publish as
soon as the necessary Surveys, &c, car. be ob
tained, a New, Large and Complete Map ol" North
Carolina, five feet by tl ree, well engraved and finished
in the best style.
It is admitted on all sides, that such a work is a
jrreat desideratum in our State, and i is in consequence
of the frequent enquiries on this subject, that the under
signed have embarked in the enterprise.
The only attempted work of this kind is that of
McRea, published in 1833; and since then the Counties.
Towns, Itoads and Post-offices have increased in num
ber, and all our works of Internal Improvements, with
small exceptions, been set on foot.
It is intended that the New .Map, now proposed to
be published, shall contain, accurately laid down, all
the Natural Features of the Stat;-, the Inlets, Harbors,
Sounds, Lakes. Rivers, ('reeks and Mountains, &c.
Also, the public improvements aid artificial divisions.
The Railroads, Plankroads, Counties County towns,
Post offices, Cities Villages, Post-roads and Canals,
Colleges, Academies, &c. &c.
The Map will be ready by the summer of 1 Sr..
