THE DYING MOTHER. BY ALICE CAREY. We wm weeping round her pillow, For we knew tint six- must die; It was night within oiir bosoms It wan night ujkoi the sky. Tliere were seven of ns children, I the oldest one of all ; h I tried to whisper comfort, But the blinding tears would fall On my knees my little brotLer Leaned his aching 1row and vept And my sister's lung black tresses O'er my braving bosom swept. Tli'1 shadow of an awful fear Came o'er me as I trod To lay the burden of our griej" Before the throne of God. "O, be kind to cne another!" Was my mother's pleading prayer, As lier baud lay like a snow-Hake On the baby's golden hair. Then a glory bound her forehead, Like the glory of a crown, And in the silent sea of death The star of life went down. Her latest breath was borne away I'pouthat loving pray, r, And the hand grew heavier, paler, In the baby' golden hair. ifmr, ftSlit, m Smtimtnt. "Brethren, said he, " it is very ditlieult to preach when thus interrupted. Now do you listen to me, and I will tell you the nam of every man as he enters the church." The fact now being established that a Kail Road is to be constructed immediately connecting Ihe Atlantic ami Gulf of Mexico, running through the entire length of the county, East and West, and in view of the great fertility of our soil, the unusually fine giowth of pine timber on the land, the healthfulness of the climate, ami the reasonable terms on w hich lands can now be obtained, there is perhaps no section of the Union which affords equal inducements to the emigrant from the older States. Ha-'.'iog had some experience in farm ing on the different kinds ot land, and ac quired a general knowledge of them through out the county, and having acquired unusual facilities for pointing out such as are for sale either of public or private lands, he feels very confident of making it the interest of all persons wishing information, of who may have deter mined to settle i.i f ioiida to call on him.
