The cotton re port of the Department ot Agriculture, makes an unusual showing of the condition, for the month of August, ro material de cline being apparent from the status in July. The general average for July was ninety- three and four tenths, in August 1 ninety three. No State averages stand higher than m 1876,' except those of Louisiana and Florida.
