A COLLECTION OF COIN. om or Null v oltl anil Sa:u e Very Huro. Mr. C. T. PostW, the leweller. has oh interesting collection of silver and gold coins of different nationali ties, ami it is quite a treat to bike a pwp at them and observe the var ious designs engraven upon, them and note tho difference in the color of the in.-Uls. But tht raivnt and most highly prized are the Uei htler gold coins made at Rutherford, in this State, in the year 1834. One of them is a five dollar piece and con tain the inscription "C. Bet-btler At Rutherford, S Dollars" and the opposite side bears tbeoe words and fibres: 'Carolina Gold, Aug. 1 1834, :0 G. 20 Carats." The other coin is a one dollar piece and has the simple inscription "A. Bechtler 1 Dol.' on the front and "Carolina Gold, t7 Q. 81 C." on the back. The Btfhtlera were a German fam ily and it seems that different mem bers of the family made their own gold or had it made, with their iianuts ftamned on it. From the above it will be seen that there was a C. Boehtler and an A. Bechtler, but the writer does not . know whether they were brothers or father and sjo, however the coins bearing their nanus) are exceedingly rare. Some weeks ago there was an ar ticle in a western paper giving a history of these coins and the writer went oa to say that they were made in South Carolina. Sir. . Postley chancel to see the article and wrote to the author correcting the mistake. orib Carolina Jotting. Dr. Dixon, president of Greensboro female college, will deliver the annu al address at the commencement of Monroe lnsrh school. A cold-blooded murder was com mitted last Ttu'S'lay afternoon near Shannon, ra Unburn county. Tne penpleof Kibwon county are highly indignant ovtT the affair. Some of the cxehanKW wy the po tato bus; has put iti ita npjiearaiiee on time, and as tiie potato crop is a lit tle late, this garden pest is depredat ing upon tomatoes and other tender plants. The Carolina Veneer Works, at Mt. Olive, have all they can do to keep up with the orders for crates and berry baskets. They are making Khiptnents to many points inoiner states. The Crearent Canning Company has just been incorporated at Mount Olive and expects to be in operation soon. . .... Sir. W. 8. Im there room for it? This is the fa' ret question that ev ery careful investor will necessarily ask. It may therefore not be inop jtortune to state her the causes that have led to the foundation of the prereut organization The Middletown Land and Improvement Company have from the first punned x consemtive policy. Their Plan has not beeu to "Boom," but to steiidily progress and improve. There has been no inflation of value, to lie 'n'.lowed by a subsequent reaction. But. between the drawing of loU by the stockholders of the Middletown Land Company, and tbe date wben atl luese enterprises will be in active operation, some delay has necessarily occurred. Impatience has resulted. The policy of tbe iMia tympany nas not been appreciated by all, ami lots have been selling m man; canes below their intrinsic value, and certainly hto the hVure thev undoubted! v mnet realize in six months hence. This fact the promoters of tbe Mutual Loan and Trust Company have fully realiKM.
