The Methodist Quarterly Con ference was held at this place on last Saturday, with Elder. J. B. Hurley presiding. He is a deep thinker and keeps up interest The Elder preached on Sunday and the sermon was spoken of in the highest terms by all who heard it. Mr. Gibb Hamlin was recently united in marriage to Mrs. Nan nie Standneld, who was Buck Longs daughter. However Messrs. Long and Hamlin made a very agreeable trade. Mr. Hamlin taking as his companion for future life Mr. Longs daugh ter, Mrs. Nannie, and a few months ago Mr. Long took as his better half Mr. Hamlin's mother, Mrs. Fannie Hamlin, and the two couples belong to some of the most high-toned families of Per son.
