He called to the men to stop the fussing and this was promised. Soon after he passed from the snack there was a general rush and in a mo ment the negroes begin cj run out. Then he saw Havwtod Tharp as he made away from the sene and heard three shots from a pistol each in quick succession. Andrew Clark was working the other en i of the gun. After the third shot Tharp fell and Clark ran off, earning so it war reported here, in the direc tion of Durham. On examination it was found that two cr three shots fired had taken effect in the body of Tharp. One ball struck him in the left back and parsed out in the region of the left nipple. This ball did not en ter the eavitv.
