GOVERNOR GLENN SPEAKS Subect "Are Our Young Men Safe. What Can We Do to Help Save Themr Singing by Hale Quartette. It is usually the case that when Governor R. B. Glenn comes to Durham that he ha3 a large crowd of people out to hear him, and last Sunday afternoon was no exception. The crowd would have been larger had there been more room. The occasion was the formal opening or dedidation of the new Y. M. C. A. and all denominat ions, men ane women, boys and girls, took part. The preliminary services were held last week and those in charge have been plan ning to have the big day when the governor was here and they succeeded. The program, as previously announced, Was carried out as follows: Chorus Thirty male voices. Scripture reading-Rev. G. T. Adams. Quartette. Prayer Rev. E. R. Leyburn. Quartette Announcements. Chorus. Introduction -Mr. James H. Southgate. Address Gov. R. B. Glenn. -"Are Young Men Safe? What Can We Do to Help Save them?" AH Hail the Pover of Jesus' Name." Benediction-Rev. W. C. Bar rett. Governor Glenn's address was Robbers Bound Over. Dag Rogers and Onis Colclough were tried before the Mayor Mon day morning on the charge of highway robbery. The evidence was sufficient for the mayor to bind them over to court under bonds of $500 each, which they could not give and are now in jail awaiting the action of the grand jury. The identification of Rogers and Colclough was out of the ordinary Charles Green was the one robbed and he was held up on Peabody street and releived of $10, there being four men in the desperate game. Sunday after noon Green went off to get into a crap game with the hope of find ing a certain marked dollar that he had in his pocket and when this particular dollar was- shoved up he grabbed it and made for the police station Rogers tried to stop him and inflicted two wounes with a knife, but Green came on up the; street. Told of his discovery and in a short while Rogers was under arrest for highway robbery, gambling and assault with deadly weapon. His total bond is $G00. Onis Col clough was arrested for highway robbery and gambling and his bond made $550. COMMON SENSE Leads most ijiU-KIgent people to u only roefJinc of Vr.own composition.
